These valances are cute and SO feminine. They're not just for little girls, either. Big girls love them, too! First, they are the PERFECT pink, which (as all girls know) is an important consideration. They look just great in my bedroom and compliment my white/pink/blue/lime green quilt beautifully. There are three layers to these valances - the layer in back is pink cotton (or perhaps cotton/poly). The next two layers are pink tulle. Since the outer layer of tulle is shorter than the inner layer of tulle, this gives volume to the valance so that it looks very much like a tutu skirt. For fullness, I purchased two valances for each 36" window. I haven't washed them yet, so I can't comment on how well they will launder.
