I actually love my rods. I got the pewter ones. They were solid and are as stated above. They come with a middle bracket for the really long ones (I ordered 144 inches) but I was missing that part. You can use the rods without it but the rod bends in the middle as it really needs that little extra support. Because I have no way to contact the seller, I could not get a replacement for just that one piece and a replacement for the whole thing was just too much work (especially since the original boxes were thrown out and I am disabled and had to get help to install the rods. We didn't notice the missing parts until after the rods were up. sigh)
The rods were not hard to put up, however, we did have to drill a hole into one of the rods because the screw stripped. In addition, the return of the rod is really nice because the curtains do meet the wall thus blocking that light. These rods are really a great idea if you are trying to reduce sound, heat/cold and especially light.
Side note #1 - the screws that come with the rod are not very good and stripped easily. So you may find yourself drilling a hole into the actual rod so you can screw the end caps on tightly.
Side Note #2 -. The way you put the curtains up is to unscrew the cap off the ends. It seems stupid simple but we were actually momentarily stumped! (reading instructions might have been a good idea! smile) Also make sure when you put the rods up that the screw on the end caps is at the bottom so when you take the curtains down in the future to wash or change or move, you can unscrew the endcap easily.
I would have given this a 4 except for the missing part and my unability to contact the seller and get the missing parts sent out to me. Also, I took off 1 point for missing parts and having to drill holes into the rod to securely attach the end caps because of screw that kept stripping.
UPDATE: I was able to contact Amazon by applying for a replacement with a note. I was contacted and given an option of taking a credit and looking for the part on my own which I refused because I can't find these rods anywhere but online. So I was sent to replacements. I received them quickly. However, upon opening the packaging (which was wastefully too big) the boxes that contained the rods were already opened and, again, one of the rods was missing the middle bracket.
So please note, if you buy the rods, and I still think they are worth the money, there is a good chance you will have a missing middle bracket and have to do a replacement in order to get said missing part. I don't understand why Amazon couldn't just send out the missing part but the replacement option was how they chose to do it.
