I didn't expect these curtains to totally block out the light in my daughter's room because they are white after all. But I did think they'd do a better job of it since that's what this company specializes in so I'm slightly disappointed by that. But they are so cute and go so perfectly in her pink and brown room that I kept them anyway. I've had to cover the window with a piece of black-out drapery material to keep her room dark during the day but the curtains cover this and since I never open her curtains it's not that big of a deal. But just know that if you are looking for curtains that really block out the light, you should go for a darker-colored curtain.
