I bought this curtain for my daughter's room, and we love it. The color shown in the picture is exactly what you get; it a very pretty normal purple color. The purpose of it (to blackout the room) is exactly what it does. My daughters window has the sun beating on it from sun up to sun down, and no matter what time of the day if we close the curtains her room is very, very dark. I have the same brand, same style only black in my bedroom and they do not darken as good as the purple ones do. I would definitely recommend buy these.
